Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 2026. This policy explains what personal information One Less Chore collects, why, who we share it with, and the rights you have over it.

Who we are

One Less Chore ("we", "us", "our") provides domestic cleaning services in and around Goole, East Riding of Yorkshire. We are the "data controller" for the personal information described in this policy. For any privacy question, or to exercise any of your rights, email us at hello@onelesschore.co.uk. One Less Chore is the trading name of [YOUR FULL LEGAL NAME], of [YOUR SERVICE ADDRESS].

1. Information we collect

Account & booking details: your name, email address, phone number, the address where the clean takes place, and your booking details — room selections, dates, times, the condition level you choose, any priority notes you add, and the amounts charged.

Payment details: card payments are handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number, CVV or bank details. For bank-transfer bookings we email you our own details to pay; we do not collect yours.

Gift voucher recipient details:if someone buys a gift voucher for you, we collect the recipient's name and email address from the purchaser. We use this solely to deliver the voucher to the recipient.

Technical & security data: a single essential cookie to keep you signed in, and short-lived security records (such as the IP addresses of failed login attempts) used only to protect the account system from abuse.

2. Why we use it, and our lawful basis

We only use your data to provide the service you have asked for:

• To take, confirm, reschedule and deliver your bookings, and to handle cancellations and refunds — lawful basis: performance of our contract with you.

• To send booking confirmations, reminders and account emails — contract.

• To keep the website and your account secure (rate-limiting, fraud and abuse prevention) — our legitimate interests.

• To keep invoicing and payment records — legal obligation (UK tax and accounting law).

For subscription bookings paid by card, Stripe securely stores your payment method and we automatically charge it about 3 days before each scheduled clean. If your bank requires extra verification for a recurring payment, we email you a secure link to confirm it. We never use your data for advertising, and we never sell, rent or share it for marketing.

3. Who we share it with

We rely on a small number of trusted providers to run the service. They act as our "processors" — they only handle your data on our instructions, for these specific purposes:

Stripe — processing card payments and, for subscriptions, securely storing your saved payment method (PCI DSS Level 1 certified).

Zoho Mail — sending your booking, reminder and account emails.

postcodes.io — checking whether a postcode is within our service area and finding its town (we send only the postcode).

Our hosting provider — the private server (VPS) where your data is stored.

Some of these providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, the transfer is protected by UK-approved safeguards (an adequacy decision or standard contractual clauses).

4. How long we keep it

Booking and payment records: up to 6 years, to meet UK tax and accounting requirements.

Account details: kept while your account is active, and removed on request (except records we must retain for the financial-record period above).

Security logs (failed logins, rate-limit counters): automatically deleted within about 30 days.

Contact enquiries: kept for up to 12 months.

5. How we protect it

Your data is stored on a private server with encrypted (HTTPS) connections, access restricted to the business owner, and encrypted database backups. Saved payment cards are held in Stripe's PCI DSS Level 1 environment, never on our server.

6. Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you

• Have inaccurate data corrected

• Have your data erased (subject to the retention periods above)

• Restrict or object to certain processing

• Data portability (receive your data in a portable format)

• Withdraw consent, where we rely on it

To exercise any of these, email hello@onelesschore.co.uk and we will respond within one month. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

7. Cookies

We use one strictly-necessary cookie to keep you signed in between pages, together with a small amount of browser storage that holds your profile details (name, contact information and address) so we can pre-fill them for you on your next visit, for as long as you stay signed in. We use no analytics, tracking or advertising cookies — so there is nothing you need to opt into.
